Welcome to Map Mashing!

Today we worked with Google Earth and Google Maps to learn how to map mash. I think map mashing will be a great tool for the classroom. Next year, I will be teaching fourth grade social studies so I chose to focus on using map mashing to teach a lesson on the five regions of the United States. I would introduce the five regions of the United States using Google maps so the students could see where each regions is located. What I usually do when I introduce a new topic to my students is to model to them what I will expect them to do. After the students have a clear understanding of what states belong to what region, I would have them research why they think the regions are grouped the way they are. View Larger Map
